You know the feeling you get when you finish a good book? Content like if you just finished a hot bath? All warm and comfortable like settling in a blanket on a cold winter day? I had one of those moments today.
It’s always nice to do something for yourself, but when it’s for someone else the feeling doubles.
I was able to be with my sister for really tough news. News that will shatter a lot of things in her social life. I saw it coming and held her after, like I’ve wanted to be held by my mom but never experienced.
I felt connected and could feel her pain in that one moment. Empathy filling me. It was a beautiful moment where I felt worth it, like a real big sister. It was rejuvenating.
I think it’s good to look outside ourselves to feel these moments of peace. Sure, I was hurting for a few minutes for her, but it was worth it.
Its worth it to feel. All the bad and good emotions. It’s needed to be hunan. Emotions are what make us human which makes it our duty to experience it. To connect with it. To find ourselves.
I’d urge you to give yourself a few minutes each day to reconnect so you don’t close yourself off from your deepest self. Trust me, it’s rather lonely when you block them out. I hope we can all have the courage to allow ourselves to feel. Until next time.
